44 A selfbuilder's note

一杯目の4立米が済み。お代り待ちにポンプ屋さんとお話。ポンプ屋さん曰く、鉄筋が職人より綺麗に施工してあるので、楽やとの外交辞令を頂く。素人にしちゃ上出来。普通っちゅう事でしょ。まぁ、及第点やと理解して、胸を撫で下ろす。そんで直ぐに残りの2立米到着。充填再開。途中、多いかなぁ?って言ってたけど、最後の方になって、足らんことが判明!0.5立米追加する事に。ポンプの中に残る分と、コンクリートの約5%が空気で、その分がバイブで飛ぶ事を計算に入れて無かった。トホホ。^_^;

Got up at 6:00 to ready for today's concrete filling work. Final check on steel skeleton below the surface of mold. Regrettable enough, I found untied section a few. Also found missing part of beam rod. Before 7:00 all have finished and left for rental store. As I have already established trust, clerk said charge me later. Soon got back to the site and started ready all of equipments and tools. Pumping truck's shown up eventually. While watching operator shafting the booms to the farthest point of the mold, Kenichiro-san, Hiromi-san his wife and Kyoichi-san have made, thank god. The operator expanded stabilizer and started mixing mortar for filling compressor tube. Mixing rate 1 by 1, cement and sand with water, very loose one just for avoiding air inside the compressor tube. Seems to be ready.

I've asked Ken-san and Hromi-san to operate vibrator while Kyoichi-san and me follow with trowel. Mixer truck arrived. Operation started.
Tremendous amount of air pressure pushes concrete out from the tube like ice-cream. The operator moves the boom by remote control panel on his waist band. Excellent maneuverability. Quick and precise. Clean. No spilling. This guy is incredibly professional. Very fun to work with. First 4cubic meter finished. While waiting second 2cubic meter to come, had a little chat with the operator. Shared some info about local building foundation business. He said my skeleton fixing as excellent. Also do not forget customer praising. I do not feel bad about this diplomatic statement. But In reality, my job was good enough as workable level. That's OK to me. I'm not building masterpiece . And the second truck arrived. Let's get finish this job.

As filling job went on, I felt ordered too much. But the operator said it's just about right or maybe a little short. When a few lines left, concrete flow stopped all of the sudden. Shit! It's short. Oh well, additional 0.5cubic had to be ordered. I was worried about the delay, however, additional came quick enough. And the operator said this happens all the time. I was relieved. The rest of the line filled soon. Cleaning up tools immediately as concrete stiffen and stick to any surface . Very tough to remove. After the pumping truck left, we had to fill the slightly lower surface with some leftover concrete. But still left some. I had to used the concrete up with making blocks and extended paved square. Next time I'll carefully plan to use up leftover by making steps or slopes.
